Toronto Estate Administration Lawyer
How We Help
Probate is a court process. It validates the person appointed in your will as your executor, allowing this person to manage the assets. If someone passes without having a valid will, someone needs to be appointed as an executor first.
Many financial institutions will not deal with an executor without a certificate of appointment of an estate trustee. Likewise, the land registry usually requires probate to transfer property to the beneficiaries where real property is owned.
We assist with this process and provide a comprehensive intake and asset review. As part of our process, we assess whether the estate needs to be probated and what the estate administration tax owing would be. We assist with preparing the appropriate application to the court for a certificate of appointment of an estate trustee.
