Commissioner and Notary Public
LDR Law Professional Corporation, offering Commissioning and Notarial Services
How we Can Help You
As Commissioners, we prepare a variety of affidavits, a series of statements that someone swears to the authenticity of (usually required in legal proceedings) and administer the swearing of oaths and affirmations.
We also witness clients sign declarations and statements and swear oaths attesting to their signature as a declarant to confirm the authenticity of a signature. This is often required for a variety of government and legislative forms.
As Notary Publics, we often are asked to attest to the authenticity of a document and prepare certificates swearing to the trueness of a copy. Please reach out to us if you require our services.
Prepare
Affidavits and Sworn Documents
We prepare affidavits and statutory declarations for a variety of matters, including court proceedings, real estate transactions, estate planning, and administrative requirements. Our team works closely with you to carefully review the facts and details that need to be included. We ensure that every document complies with Ontario legal standards, is accurately drafted, and is presented in a form that can be properly sworn or affirmed. By handling this process for you, we minimize errors and ensure your documents carry full legal weight.
Witness
Swearing and Affirming Documents
We act as official commissioners for taking affidavits, affirmations, and statutory declarations. When you come to us, we verify your identity, explain the contents of the document, and ensure you fully understand what you are signing. We then witness the swearing or affirmation in strict accordance with Ontario law. Our role is to provide certainty and reliability, so that the documents you submit are recognized and accepted by courts, government agencies, and other institutions.
Attest
Certification and Authentication
Sometimes legal or administrative matters require documents to be formally certified or authenticated. We provide attestations for signatures and documents, confirming their authenticity for use in court proceedings, estate matters, business transactions, or other formal processes. Having a lawyer certify your documents provides reassurance to all parties involved, ensuring they are accepted without dispute.
Advise
Independent Legal Advice (ILA)
Independent Legal Advice, or ILA, is a critical step in many legal transactions. It ensures that you receive clear, impartial guidance from a lawyer who is not representing the other party. The purpose of ILA is to help you fully understand your rights, obligations, and potential risks before you sign any agreement or document. We provide ILA across a wide range of contexts, including real estate transactions, estate administration, and family law matters. With our guidance, you can make informed decisions confidently and with peace of mind.
