Family Agreements & Planning
LDR Law assists clients with family-law-related planning documents that protect assets, clarify expectations, and reduce the risk of future disputes. While we do not provide family-law litigation services, we help individuals and couples put thoughtful agreements in place as part of broader financial and estate planning.
Marriage Contracts (Prenuptial & Cohabitation Agreements)
Marriage contracts and cohabitation agreements allow couples to set out how property, business interests, inheritances, and financial responsibilities will be handled during a relationship and in the event of separation or death.
These agreements are often particularly important where one or both partners:
- own real estate or investment properties
- have business or corporate interests
- expect to receive inheritances
- are entering a second marriage
- wish to protect family assets
A well-drafted agreement promotes transparency and helps both parties understand their financial rights and obligations from the outset.
Our Role
LDR Law assists clients with the planning and documentation side of family agreements, including:
- Marriage contracts (prenups)
- Cohabitation agreements
- Property ownership agreements between partners
- Review of agreements in connection with estate planning or business ownership
Our process focuses on:
- clear financial disclosure
- practical, customized terms
- coordination with family lawyers where needed
- ensuring each party understands the agreement
We regularly work alongside family-law counsel when independent legal advice (ILA) is required.
